Advice for UK Consumers |

Book Bargain Hunting in the UKAs you probably know, buying books online ends up being a lot cheaper than visiting high street stores - online suppliers are able to carry a wide stock, and offer some serious discounts - some offer other extras such as "recommendations" and an online "wishlist". This page contains links to a few sites to try, both for mainstream, and obscure books
The next "best thing"?Into your books? Handheld e-book readers could be the next big thing. In the US, Amazon has released something called the 'Kindle' - a handheld book reader. The Kindle isn't going to be released in the UK, but in September 2008 , the Sony Reader appeared in the UK. It has a 6-inch display, and is reportedly almost as good as paper. The screen is high-contrast and high resolution, with a near 180° viewing angle. You can alter font size, it's more compact than many paperbacks, it's only half an inch thick, and can holder 160 electronic books. Battery life is pretty impressive too, with the built-in rechargeable battery supporting 4 War and Peaces (up to 7,500 continuous page turns on a single charge). The Reader from Sony is available now, from Waterstones UK
